Acme Markets in Elmwood Park, Woodcliff Lake and Weehawken will close by Oct. 2.

The three locations haven’t met the company’s goals for a number of years, according to spokesperson Dana Ward via email.

“Closing a store is always a tough decision, but we remain focused on growing our business and reinvesting those resources into our existing stores along with aggressively exploring other new sites,” Ward said. “We look forward to continuing to provide our customers with clean, fresh, full, and friendly shopping experiences.”

There are 73 remaining Acme Markets in New Jersey, more than any other state.

Employees interested in remaining with the company will be transferred to open positions at nearby stores.
