ShopRite has cut the ribbon on its new, 80,000-square-foot store in South Plainfield, it announced, bringing some 300 jobs to the borough. The store, located in the Golden Acres Shopping Center at 3600 Park Ave., held its ceremony last Tuesday, with the official opening last Wednesday. The supermarket took the place of a shuttered A&P store after extensive renovations that saw the property completely gutted and redone.

The store will be operated by family-owned Saker ShopRites Inc., and is part of the Keasbey-based Wakefern Food Corp. cooperative.

It features everything from a bake shop to pharmacy, in-store café and even a specialty cigar shop, the supermarket chain said.

Local officials had previously said the redevelopment was a $13 million project.
