Visitors at American Dream will soon be able to grab dinner and a movie.

The East Rutherford megamall unveiled plans to open a movie theater featuring what’s billed as one of the largest immersive screens in the world.

CJ 4DPLEX developed the multi-projection cinema experience, ScreenX. It aims to enhance traditional movie screenings by extending the screens onto the surrounding walls of the auditorium to create a 270-degree panoramic view.

B&B Theatres’ new venue will also include eight screens, multiple bowling lanes, and arcade and beverage options, such as a restaurant and full-service bar. Every auditorium will feature heated, leather electric recliners; wall-to-wall curved screens; and the latest in laser projection.

The upcoming location will mark B&B’s New Jersey debut.

Based in Missouri, the family-owned and operated cinema chain is the fifth largest in North America. Altogether it operates 550 screens at 57 locations in 15 states. The 100-year-old company also maintains 64 bowling lanes; 231 arcade games; and three distinct restaurant brands: Marquee Bar & Grille, Sterling’s and Johnnie’s Jazz Bar & Grille.

An anticipated opening date at American Dream was not provided.

Brock Bagby, president and chief content, programming and development officer for B&B, said, “We are incredibly excited to announce this deal with American Dream. This new location underscores our commitment to providing the most immersive and enjoyable entertainment experiences possible.”

He went on to say the chain has a successful presence at the Mall of America in Minnesota. Triple Five, American Dream’s parent company, also owns that property.

At American Dream, the ScreenX location will feature an 80-foot-wide center screen and side walls measuring 82 feet each, for a total of 242 feet of viewing range. Of the 370-plus ScreenX locations worldwide, B&B has added over a dozen of the premium auditoriums in recent years.
