Avaya Wins Merrill Lynch Contract

Maker of business telephone systems to supply Internet-based phone systems for more than 10,000 Merrill Lynch employees.Basking Ridge-based Avaya (NYSE: AV), a maker of business telephone systems, said Wednesday it has been selected by New York City”s Merrill Lynch (NYSE: MER) to supply Internet-based phone systems for more than 10,000 employees. Financial terms were not disclosed.In a press release, Avaya said it will supply Merrill Lynch offices in Sydney, Australia; Sao Paulo, Brazil; and the U.S. with its S8700 IP telephony systems. The systems includes Avaya”s Softphone mobility feature, which allows employees to make and receive calls remotely from a laptop or desktop computer. At the close of trading Thursday, Avaya shares were unchanged at $13.10.
