Bergen New Bridge Medical Center said Tuesday that it would begin using the NanoVaporBiotech Microbial Suppression System as an initiative to contain and mitigate the impact of COVID-19.

The system facilitates the disinfecting and suppression of microbials, such as coronaviruses, by spraying surfaces with a product that removes and suppresses through a nano-coating. It inhibits the growth of microorganisms and helps prevent the growth and spread of bacteria and viruses for up to three months. The MSS antimicrobial agent is a non-toxic water-based formula that is completely safe for human contact.

As the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Bergen County continues to rise, President and CEO Deborah Visconti said Bergen New Bridge would continue to assess how to best protect its patients, long term care residents, and staff through effective disinfectant procedures and products.

“I am proud to say that this cutting edge disinfectant system came to us through Dr. Maurizio Miglietta, our chief of surgery, who has been one of the pioneers behind this process,” said Visconti.

“We are faced with an ever-increasing number of COVID-19 cases and protecting everyone in the Medical Center is our top priority.”
