Former Mack-Cali Realty Corp. CEO and Vice Chairman Mitchell Rudin is joining Savills Studley as president, Savills Chairman and CEO Mitchell Steir announced Wednesday.

Rudin will succeed Michael Colacino at the commercial real estate firm. He is stepping down at the end of the year after 27 years at the company, 16 as president.

Rudin, who announced his resignation from Mack-Cali in June, will join the company Oct. 1 and assume the role of president effective Jan. 1.

According to Savills, Colacino is leaving the company with plans to build a software company.

“I’ve spent the last 30 years advocating for the application of software and analytics to real estate,” Colacino said in a release. “I am eager to combine my background in software with my experience managing broker operations to change and improve our industry.”
