Hudson Technologies, a Woodcliff Lake-based provider of sustainable refrigerant products and services for the HVAC and refrigeration industries, is teaming up with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to fight climate change.
In a May 2 press release, the company announced it joined the EPA‘s GreenChill initiative, which is a voluntary partnership program that works cooperatively with the food retail industry to reduce refrigerant emissions.
As a partner in the corporate emissions reduction program – which collaborates with retailers, refrigeration system manufacturers and chemical producers – Hudson will commit to promoting the use of environmentally friendly retrofit chemicals and secondary fluids in commercial refrigeration.
Brian Coleman, president and chief executive officer of Hudson Technologies, said in a statement, “Hudson is pleased to have this opportunity to join the GreenChill Partnership to further our commitment to initiatives around the use of more environmentally friendly refrigerants. Through our EMERALD Refrigerants line, we fulfill industry-wide cooling system demand for refrigerants with recovered and reclaimed product, providing a sustainable solution and promoting the circular economy of refrigerants.
“We look forward to bringing our reclaimed refrigerants, our system conversion, and energy efficiency expertise to the program to support the transition to greener refrigeration and cooling system alternatives,” he said.
Launched in 2007, GreenChill seeks to address the harmful refrigerants than can be leaked into the atmosphere by commercial refrigeration systems found in supermarkets, grocery stores, wholesale clubs and co-ops.
Through the program, GreenChill provides food retailers and other industry stakeholders with information and assistance to transition to environmentally friendlier refrigerants, reduce the amount of refrigerant they use, eliminate refrigerant leaks, implement environmental best practices and adopt green refrigeration technologies.
Every day is Earth DayAs consumers demand more environmentally friendly products and services, New Jersey companies are moving to meet those expectations – and doing so in a way that creates a long-term value for all stakeholders. Read the story in our May 1, 2023, issue of NJBIZ.
