The basics:

  • Morris County general manager named top performer at Jersey Mike’s nationwide
  • Store ranks among the chain’s top locations in the U.S.
  • GM will open her own location in partnership with franchisee

The general manager of a Jersey Mike’s Subs shop in Morris County was named as one of the very best leaders across the sandwich giant’s thousands of locations nationwide.

During the Manasquan-based chain’s national conference in March, founder presented the “Manager of the Year” award to Anggie Felize. And he also announced she would receive a shop of her own.

The Clifton resident joined Jersey Mike’s in 2013 as one of the first team members hired at the brand’s first New York City location. Following a hiatus from Jersey Mike’s, Feliz returned in 2020 to the franchise’s shop in Parsippany. After, she was promoted to general manager within a year.

In December 2022, Feliz became general manager of the outpost as part of the grand opening.

Under the leadership of Feliz, the store is considered one of Jersey Mike’s highest-performing U.S. locations. It ranks 56 out of the franchise’s more than 3,000 units. Morris Township has also earned the designation as a certified training store, which allows it to train other franchisee groups in New Jersey and New York on operational excellence, the chain said.

Top performer

Besides running a model location, Feliz has embraced Jersey Mike’s giving culture, the company says.

In 2023 and 2024, her store ranked among the top five nationally for the brand’s “” initiative.

During Jersey Mike’s 15th annual “Month of Giving” this year, Feliz along with teams throughout New Jersey rallied to raise nearly $1.4 million for Make-A-Wish New Jersey. Nationally, $30 million was raised for more than 200 local charities.

Multi-unit franchisee, Evan Mayer, who owns 23 Jersey Mike’s restaurants including the Morris Township location, nominated Feliz.

Mayer commented, “Anggie deserves to be recognized as a top performer and motivator. She embodies our company culture and core values: giving of ourselves to others and the community; building great relationships with all we meet; having fun; having a desire for growth; and being reliable to our team members and customers.”

Feliz shared, “When my name was announced as Manager of the Year, I just froze. I’m really grateful to Evan and the whole team that has supported me. We are more than co-workers, we are family.”

‘It’s all about caring’

The 40-year-old went on to recall valuable advice that her father one gave her, “Whenever a person walks in, treat them like your best friend.”

Feliz said she has taken that to heart by building strong connections with customers and team members. “It’s all about caring,” she explained. “When you care, you see small details no one else sees. One conversation can make someone’s day.”

She also noted the positive impact Jersey Mike’s is having on her 9-year-old son, Ethan.

Feliz said, “Ethan says he wants to be the next Peter Cancro. When I ask why, Ethan says, ‘Because he built something from nothing.’”

Cancro recently stepped down as the longtime CEO of the brand. His involvement with Jersey Mike’s dates back to when he was 14 and worked at the original location in Point Pleasant. His successor, Charlie Morrison, began April 28.

According to Jersey Mike’s, Feliz will partner with Mayer to open her shop and continue to be involved with the Morris Township and Parsippany restaurants.

A spokesperson for Jersey Mike’s said when and where Feliz’s location will launch is still being determined. While all of the chain’s stores were invited to nominate general managers for the award, the media representative did not specify how many submissions the company received.
