JLL completes lease for Zaro’s bakery in Newark

JLL said Oct. 12 that it recently arranged a 10-year lease on behalf of The Shoppes on Broad for Zaro’s Family Bakery in Newark, establishing its third New Jersey location.

Senior Vice President Marta Villa represented the landlord in the direct transaction with Zaro’s for the 2,285-square-foot space.

Zaro’s is an 85-year-old family-owned and operated bakery with 11 stores in the New York Metropolitan Area. Founded in 1927 in The Bronx, the bakery has stores in major transportation hubs and shopping areas, and its bread, pastries and coffee are a staple for area commuters.

The Shoppes on Broad, a 50,000-square-foot, Class-A retail mixed-use environment complements Newark’s daytime office and university populations, as well as the residential component in Downtown Newark. Near Rutgers University, Seton Hall University and New Jersey Performing Arts Center, this area of of the city features abundant restaurants and retailers. Soon, Zaro’s will bring traditional baked goods with its famous bagels, cookies and Challah bread to the mix.
