Newark-based Manischewitz is set to be acquired by Kenover Marketing Corp., doing business as kosher food purveyor Kayco, the companies announced Monday.

The companies have reached an understanding for Bayonne-based Kayco to acquire all of the kosher food business of Manischewitz, excluding the Season brand of products.

Manischewitz was founded 131 years ago by Rabbi Dov Behr Manischewitz in 1888 in Cincinnati, best known for its square matzoh and kosher wine.

Both Manischewitz and Kayco are operating business as usual and will honor outstanding commitments, the announcement said.
