Fittingly, the latest tenant attracted to Kearny Point in Kearny shares the property’s eye toward sustainability.

Food processing startup NutriCleanse leased 10,000 square feet of at Building 78, Kearny Point announced this week.

The company joins a roster that includes more than 200 growing businesses. The 130-acre site was formerly an industrial shipyard. Now, based on its “greenprint,” Hugo Neu Corp. is transforming the land into a mixed-use sustainability campus and innovation hub.

Among its mission is to accelerate the growth of clean and green technologies. NutriCleanse wants to revolutionize the treatment of low-moisture foods.

Using cutting-edge Neo Pure technology, licensed from Agri Neo, the company developed a method to eliminate pathogens and preserve the natural quality of foods — without using harmful chemicals, steam or radiation.

Looking ahead, NutriSense said it plans to explore new practices and expand its services.

Director Yosef Klein said the company was thrilled to join the “dynamic” Kearny Point community. He cited the accessibility the location offers, near to the Port of Newark, Newark Liberty International Airport, the New Jersey Turnpike, Route 280 and the Garden State Parkway.

“Building 78 also allows us to be part of a thriving startup community with lots of amenities and resources for small business,” Klein added.

Building 78 and the Annex totals 250,000 square feet. More than half its tenants are women- and minority-owned companies, according to Kearny Point.

Mike Myer, director of development for Hugo Neo, said they were happy to have NutriCleanse occupy an anchor space.

“Kearny Point is currently home to a number of innovative food innovation and technology companies that are focused on sustainable food systems,” he said, adding the company will fit in well with the “dynamic and entrepreneurial culture.”
