“I grew up in Elberon, and Monmouth Medical Center was always our family hospital,” reads a June 18 statement from Estabrook, who sits on the board of trustees for the Long Branch hospital’s owner, West Orange-based RWJBarnabas Health.
As owner of the Cranford-based real estate company Elberon Development Group, Estabrook also sits on the board of directors for NAIOP, a commercial real estate trade group for the state.
“No matter where we were, if we needed excellent care, we would travel back to Long Branch,” she continued.
This new hospital will be situated in the Tinton Falls section of Fort Monmouth, and be named the Vogel Medical Campus after a $50 million donation from Colts Neck philanthropists Sheldon and Anne Vogel. Timing and the final price tag for the new hospital are still not clear.
As part of RWJBarnabas’ expansion into Monmouth County, the sprawling Fort Monmouth site will include a satellite location of the Rutgers Cancer Institute, and various outpatient offices.
“Especially this past year, people have looked to their local health care institutions for support and guidance, and this project demonstrates our continued commitment to the communities who rely on us,” said Bill Arnold, who heads RWJ University Hospital in New Brunswick and the RWJBH Southern Region.
