Gov. Phil Murphy will take a nine-day trip to Germany and Israel with the aim of attracting new businesses to the state from the two countries, his office said Thursday.Murphy will depart the evening of Oct. 15 and return Oct. 24. Choose New Jersey, which markets the state’s businesses and investment and economic opportunities, will fund the trip.

He will spend four days in Germany, where he was formerly the U.S. Ambassador. The governor will hold meetings and roundtables in Berlin, Hamburg and Frankfurt with business leaders, including speaking engagements with the Association of German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the American Chamber of Commerce and varying offshore wind energy companies.

While in Israel, Murphy will visit Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, where he will speak before the Israel-America Chamber of Commerce and the New Jewish Federations of New Jersey, on top of cultural events, corporate and business meetings.

Choose New Jersey plans to establish a European base in Germany, which is aimed at attracting business and investment from across the continent, said Jose Lozano, president of the nonprofit.

” … with strong public schools and universities, a strategic location between major markets, and a highly-educated workforce, [New Jersey] is a first-rate place to live, work, and raise a family, all reasons why businesses should choose the Garden State,” Lozano said. “The Governor will be making this case directly to hundreds of international business leaders and executives next month during his upcoming economic trip

Funding for the point person and a promotional office would come entirely from Choose New Jersey at no cost to the state, Lozano added.
