Two New Jersey companies nabbed spots on Seramount’s 2022 list of top 10 companies for executive women.

Johnson & Johnson and Zoetis, based in New Brunswick and Florham Park, respectively, were named to the top of the list, joined on the longer rankings by:  Roseland-based ADP, Florham Park-based BASF US, Whitehouse Station-based Merck, Newark-based Prudential Financial Inc., Bridgewater-based Sanofi, Cherry Hill-based TD Bank, and Englewood Cliffs-based Unilever.

A handful of companies with a large New Jersey presence — including Colgate Palmolive and Verizon — also made the list, which was published June 14.

“Seramount continues to explore ways organizations can move more women into top positions, while highlighting the successes at these trailblazing companies,” according to the company’s website. “This is the most definitive list of top workplaces for women who want to advance through the corporate ranks. It celebrates companies that champion women’s advancement, with a focus on succession planning, profit-and-loss roles, gender pay parity, support programs, and flexibility programs.”

According to Seramount, the percentage of women corporate executives at companies on the top 75 list increased 1 percentage point between 2021 and 2022, from 34% to 35%. Female board of directors also increased 2 percentage points from 36% to 38%.

Nearly half (45%) of the top 20% highest-paid employees at these companies are women, up from 41% in 2021.

The companies on the list lift women up, with 89% of winning companies holding managers accountable for hiring and advancing women, compared to 81% in 2021. And, 75% of the companies offer formal sponsorship, up from 68% in 2021.
