In advance of Mother’s Day, Fair Lawn Main Street Inc. launched a promotion that makes it easy to support local businesses and get mom a gift she’ll love.

Through May 14, the organization has a buy one, get one offer for its Shop Fair Lawn Community Gift Card program, which is a digital voucher that can be used at participating businesses in the Bergen County borough.

As part of the deal, shoppers who purchase one $100 Community Gift Card will receive a bonus $40 card, those who buy a $50 Community Gift Card will get a bonus $20 card and consumers who spend $25 on a Community Gift Card will be sent a bonus $10 card.

The program’s technology, security and customer service are handled by Yiftee, a leading provider of virtual gift card solutions, making it easy and hassle-free for both businesses and customers, according to Fair Lawn Main Street Inc.

Volume discounts are also offered for one-time or ongoing purchases of $1,000 or more paid in advance by check or electronic funds transfer. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.

According to Fair Lawn Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Toni DeLisi, the BOGO promotion will be offered again in June ahead of Father’s Day and graduation season.

Abigail Polizois, chair of the Fair Lawn Main Street Inc. board of directors, said, “Purchasing a digital gift card takes the stress out of gift-giving. You don’t have to worry about it being the right color or size. You just have to choose the amount and send it to the recipient via email or text message. The recipient can then use it at any of the participating businesses in Fair Lawn, from restaurants and cafes to salons and boutiques.”

Spreading the word

Jaime Lyn Geduldick, the owner of Haus Cafe, one of the participating businesses on River Road, said the initiative is a great way to increase sales and exposure.

“By joining the program, local businesses can tap into a network of loyal customers who want to shop locally and support their community. They can also enjoy 24/7 sales and automatic word of mouth, as the gift card recipients will likely share their experiences with their friends and family,” Geduldick said.

The Shop Fair Lawn Community Gift Card program is the latest effort by Fair Lawn Main Street Inc. to promote the downtown as a vibrant and thriving destination that attracts residents and visitors alike.

The organization – previously known as the Fair Lawn Economic Development Corp. – secured a Main Street New Jersey designation in September 2021 for the borough, opening access to financial resources to help its business districts.

Earlier this year, the nonprofit entity restructured as part of a move to better address the needs of local businesses in the borough’s two special improvement districts. The group also announced the establishment of a liaison relationship with the New Jersey Business Action Center, which provides specialized and professional services to small businesses, including mentoring, technical training, regulatory assistance and site selection.
