A 91,624-square-foot ShopRite store opened in Middletown June 23 that will be the anchor tenant of new retail development Kings Commons.
Saker ShopRites owns and operates the new store. This is its 32nd ShopRite.
The supermarket offers a bakery, a meat department with butchers available to custom cut orders, fresh catch seafood daily, a nutrition center, floral shop, deli, a grab-n-go department with more than 1,000 items, and a produce department with organic and locally grown fruits and vegetables.
The location abuts a new 20,000-square-foot ShopRite Wine and Spirits store.
“We have a long commitment to Monmouth County and Middletown and look forward to opening this new shopping center with our World Class ShopRite as the centerpiece. We thank our customers and the community for their support as we built this new modern market,” said Richard Saker, president and chief executive officer of Saker ShopRites Inc., in a prepared statement.
“We are excited to expand our offerings, especially our fresh prepared foods and gourmet grab-and-go meals, while providing all the quality, value and service our customers expect,” Saker said.
Other store amenities include a pharmacy, full-service catering department and ShopRite from Home pick-up and delivery service.
The store will employ approximately 320 people. The fourth- and fifth-generation family-owned company employs more than 9,000 at its ShopRites and other banners and is the largest member-owner of Wakefern Food Corp., based in Keasbey.
The existing store location on Route 35 in the Middletown Plaza closed at 9:00 p.m. on June 22, and the new store opened the next morning at 7 a.m. on State Highway Route 35 and Kings Highway. It’ll be open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to midnight.
