A New Jersey-based engineering firm is moving its headquarters from Elmwood Park to Parsippany, real estate company Transwestern said Wednesday.(Editor’s Note: This report was updated Thursday with additional information and comments from Langan Engineering & Environmental Services.)

A New Jersey-based engineering firm is moving its headquarters from Elmwood Park to Parsippany, real estate company Transwestern said Wednesday.

Langan Engineering & Environmental Services is leasing 71,500 square feet of space at 300 Kimball Drive, according to a news release. The 400,000-square-foot Class A office building was recently redesigned into a multitenant space from a single-tenant one, Transwestern said.

“Three hundred Kimball is setting the standard for redeveloping suburban buildings into highly desirable facilities that can compete with more urban locations,” James Postell, a Transwestern partner and city leader, said in a prepared statement.

Langan said in a release that it signed the lease in January, and hopes to move into its new space — the fourth floor of the five-story building — by year-end. The company considered multiple sites in the region, it said, but opted to remain in New Jersey.

“Langan’s success is predicated on our people, and we are thrilled to provide our employees with a state-of-the-art work space that will better enable them to provide exceptional service to our clients and industry partners,” David T. Gockel, CEO and president of Langan, said in a prepared statement. “Three hundred Kimball is a LEED Silver Building and the design of our space will be a contemporary open-floor plan, which will enhance the quality of our business environment and cultivate superior collaboration among the many technical disciplines offered by Langan.”

The real estate firm, which has its New Jersey office in the same building, handles leasing and management on behalf of the landlord, and will oversee construction management during the fit-out of Langan’s new space.

“The turnaround of 300 Kimball has been nothing short of remarkable,” Matt McDonough, a Transwestern managing director, said in a statement.

Langan, which provides site/civil, geotechnical and environmental engineering services as well as traffic planning, surveying, landscape architecture services and more, serves clients in New Jersey as well as across the U.S. and internationally.

Langan, which was founded in 1970, also has an office in Lawrenceville among its national and international locations. It employs more than 350 people in New Jersey, and 1,000 overall.

Both Langan and Transwestern are among NJBIZ’s 2015 Best Places to Work in New Jersey.

Transwestern said it also has recently brokered long-term leases at 300 Kimball with financial technology services company Fiserv, which took 78,500 square feet, and insurance company FM Global, which took 55,200 square feet.
