Trenton-Mercer Airport saw a 30.6 percent increase in passengers from 2016 to 2017, according to numbers released by the Federal Aviation Administration.According to the FAA, 278,436 people boarded a commercial aircraft out of Trenton-Mercer in 2016, while 363,626 people boarded the following year.
“This is positive news for Trenton-Mercer Airport and indicates that the airlines are offering destinations the public wants, passengers are benefiting from the ever-expanding choice of routes and the next-door location of Trenton-Mercer Airport is attractive to people throughout our region, many of whom have said the convenience of the airport drives their decision to take a family vacation,” Mercer County Executive Brian Hughes said in a statement.
Trenton-Mercer Airport is considering building a new airport terminal that would accommodate current passenger capacity and support future growth. A new terminal would offer expanded dining options, better security screening areas, modern baggage claim and parking enhancements.
