Big SNOW, the indoor ski and snowboard hill at American Dream in East Rutherford, will reopen for Memorial Day Weekend after more than seven months closed due to an off-hours electrical fire in the fall.
The 16-story, 180,000-square-foot facility is North America’s only indoor ski hill. A fire broke out at 4:15 a.m. on Sept. 25, 2021, and though at the time Big SNOW’s Instagram said it would be closed through at least Oct. 2, reopening was pushed back several times.
Montville-based SNOW Partners, which owns Big SNOW, announced March 7 that “final repairs are now underway to get our slopes open and get us back together again.” Chief Marketing Officer Hugh Reynolds said SNOW Partners “could not be more excited to reopen Big SNOW to our guests this May.”
“We thank our guests and team for their patience over these past few months, and we appreciate the hard work of all involved in getting us ready to reopen. We look forward to reuniting with our guests on the snow this summer and getting back to the business of offering endless winter fun here in New Jersey,” Reynolds said.
As construction continues this spring, the March 7 announcement said that Big SNOW American Dream will keep guests informed on progress updates and share grand reopening details.
