LMC said a regional retail operator with locations at malls across the Tri-State leads the tenant. This new venture marks an expansion for the unnamed operator into the category. Robert Elbaz of Sholom & Zuckerbrot Realty served as tenant broker in the transaction.

Leasing Representative Ed Vasconcellos arranged the lease on behalf of the landlord for LMC. He said these kinds of tenants bring “tremendous energy” to a property.

He also said it adds to the shopping center’s current mix of retail, dining and service shops “and will further establish the property as a family-friendly community destination.”

In addition to Stop & Shop, other occupants include Crunch Fitness, Dollar Tree and more.

Rutgers Plaza sits less than 1 mile from the eponymous university.

According to Placer.ai data cited by LMC, the strip realizes approximately 1.8 million annual visits. It serves a growing residential population of more than 277,000 people within a 5-mile radius. Approximately 36,000 vehicles pass the property each day, LMC added.
