Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop is gearing up to unveil its second restaurant in New Jersey.

Located at 1041 Route 73 in Marlton, the new store is scheduled to open Aug. 26.

The upcoming location marks the second Capriotti’s to open as part of a franchise agreement with local husband-wife team Jimit Dharia and Urvi Jatania. The pair introduced Capriotti’s to New Jersey last year, with the launch of a shop in Princeton.

Under the terms of their deal with the fast-casual brand, the couple expects to add eight more storefronts across the state.

After Marlton, the next outpost will start welcoming customers by the end of the year at Warren Village Shopping Center in Warren, according to a Capriotti’s spokesperson.

The franchisees are still searching to find property for the remaining seven stores, the media rep said.

Presidential fave

Siblings Lois and Alan Margolet founded Capriotti’s 49 years ago in Delaware. The eatery serves subs, cheesesteaks and salads at its more than 175 locations across the U.S. Now owned by a group of Las Vegas investors, Capriotti’s aims to grow to over 750 units systemwide by 2032.

Its menu includes “The Bobbie,” a Thanksgiving-style sub made with slow-roasted turkey topped with cranberry sauce, handmade stuffing and mayonnaise.

Besides being a bestseller for the chain, “The Bobbie” ranked as “The Greatest Sandwich in America” by AOL.com readers in 2009. It was also one of Thrillist’s top sandwiches in the country. The item was a go-to item of Delaware native former President Joe Biden, too.

Last year, Capriotti’s landed at No. 4 on USA Today’s readers’ choice travel awards. The top 10 list also included New Jersey-born brands PrimoHoagies (No. 1) and Jersey Mike’s Subs (No. 7).

In addition to dine-in, carryout and delivery options, Capriotti’s has a catering lineup that includes cold sub party trays, box lunches and a hot homemade meatball bar.

Dharia and his wife said they were drawn to Capriotti’s because of the brand’s reputation for premium, handcrafted sandwiches. Originally from India, the couple has spent 14 years in Central Jersey running other restaurants and a construction business.

Dharia said, “We are thrilled to continue growing Capriotti’s in New Jersey and bring our passion for premium, handcrafted sandwiches to the Marlton community. As someone who truly values high-quality food, I’m excited to introduce Capriotti’s bold flavors and exceptional service to even more guests in South Jersey.”
