Jinya Ramen Bar is debuting its contemporary Japanese dining concept in New Jersey.
Scheduled to open Sept. 10 at 465 Route 46 in Totowa, the California-based eatery is known for specialty ramen made in long-simmered broths, Japanese-inspired tacos, rice bowls, curry and other small plate items.
Jinya also features a full bar, stocked with a wide selection of authentic Japanese beers and liquors. Additionally, it features offerings from local breweries, like Brix City, Bolero Snort Brewery, Kane Brewing, Ghost House Brewing and 7 Tribesmen. The restaurant also hosts a daily happy hour from 3-6 p.m.
Following a 10:45 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday, the first 100 customers will receive a free bowl of ramen. The restaurant will also welcome a special set from DJ Nico DiRenzi to keep the celebration going that evening.
Since its 2010 founding, Jinya has grown to over 60 restaurants in North America. It has East Coast locations in Maryland, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida and Washington, D.C.
Its first New Jersey location comes through a partnership with Allendale-headquartered restaurant group Doherty Enterprises Inc.
With more than 160 restaurants across New Jersey and New York, Doherty Enterprises owns and operates popular establishments, such as Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar, Panera Bread and Chevys Fresh Mex. The group also has its own concepts: The Shannon Rose Irish Pub and Spuntino Wine Bar & Italian Tapas.
Jinya founder and CEO Tomo Takahashi said he is delighted to team up with Doherty Enterprises to bring his brand to New Jersey.
He went on to say, “Their expertise in the Northeast and our expertise in ramen will pair wonderfully as we begin to develop additional locations throughout the region.”
Additional details about future Jinya outposts in the area were not provided.
Tim Doherty, chief executive officer of Doherty Enterprises, commented, “We are beyond excited to open our first Jinya Ramen Bar and introduce Totowa to this incredible dining experience.”
“Our mission has always been to bring diverse and high-quality dining options to our communities, and Jinya perfectly aligns with that vision. We can’t wait for our guests to experience the exceptional ramen, unique tapas, and hard-to-find Japanese beers and liquors that Jinya has to offer,” he added.
In addition, to celebrate Doherty Enterprises’ recent partnership with the American Cancer Society, the company will donate $1 from every “Flying Violette” cocktail sold during September and October at Jinya.
