Garden State Dispensary will open Monmouth County’s first medical cannabis dispensary on Sept. 17 in Eatontown, according to New Jersey Department of Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli.
This will be the state’s 12th dispensary, and GSD’s third after locations in Woodbridge and Union.
Since Gov. Phil Murphy took office in 2018, more than 70,000 new patients have been added to the medical cannabis program. Meanwhile, more than 1,200 physicians help patients access medical cannabis—an increase of 240 percent from the beginning of his term.
Cultivation capacity has also increased, from 50,000 cannabis plants in 2018 to nearly 350,000. Recently, the DOH issued a waiver allowing alternative treatment centers to provide home delivery.
Last month, Harmony Dispensary opened its second dispensary in Hoboken.
New Jerseyans will vote on whether to legalize adult use cannabis during the general election in November.
