Felician University unveiled a new online platform aimed at giving working professionals and new members of the workforce the opportunity to upskill.

The Felician Advantage offers these individuals both short- and longer-term courses that will give them the training and credentials needed to advance.

The platform offers courses in a number of popular upskilling categories, such as Business, Leadership, Marketing, Computer Skills and more. All subjects are online and asynchronous – so they can be accessed at students’ convenience. While a standard degree is not required to take the courses, the university says they are stackable – and can count toward a Felician degree, if desired.

Vice President for Academic Affairs Michael Markowitz is spearheading this new program, which has been in development for more than a year.

He noted the significant changes in higher education and society more broadly.

“Institutions need to be nimble, connecting with the needs and wants of those who are seeking to improve their circumstances through education,” said Markowitz. “I want to be a destination for all different types of learners – traditional undergrads, adult degree completers, and career professionals who need to upskill.”

Markowitz says that The Felician Advantage particularly fits well with one of the Core Franciscan Values that is so integral to the university – the process of transformation.

“Which encourages an open mind and heart leading to continuous improvement of the person,” said Markowitz. “That’s what I believe quality education can and should do.”

Mildred Mihlon was named the seventh president of Felician University in February 2024.

Felician President Mildred Mihlon expressed her support for the program.

“I am excited that Felician University is expanding course offerings to satisfy this important demand from professional and adult learners in our region and beyond,” said Mihlon.
