The Gateway Development Commission unveiled new details regarding the search to replace outgoing CEO Kris Kolluri.

In July, Kolluri made the surprising announcement he would step down from his role with GDC overseeing the $16 billion , which has made significant strides under his leadership including the recent full federal funding grant agreement.

“Kris Kolluri has been an incredible leader of the , ensuring GDC has the organizational capacity, capability, and funding to see the Hudson Tunnel Project to completion,” Alicia Glen, New York commissioner and co-chair, Balpreet Grewal-Virk, New Jersey commissioner and co-chair, and Tony Coscia, Amtrak commissioner and vice chair, said in a joint Aug. 14 statement.

The board said it is holding discussions on who will be appointed the next GDC chief and announced the next steps.

“As part of that process, we as the Co-Chairs and Vice Chair of the board will serve as the search committee for that position,” the commissioners said. “We are undertaking a national search and will engage an executive search firm as part of that process. We will provide ongoing updates as appropriate and take all necessary actions to ensure GDC has another world-class CEO as we complete the transition from planning to building.”

During the Aug. 1 board meeting, GDC announced that Kolluri would remain in his role for an additional 60 days from when he was first planning to depart – until mid-October.

“The fact that I can help, as I promised, during this transition – to make sure it’s a smooth transition and a transition that is reflective of GDC’s best values, which is we always watch for each other; make sure that, ultimately, nothing ever happens to the project or this organization,” Kolluri said at the outset of the Aug. 1 meeting. “That is the commitment I made to you my first day. That is the commitment I’m making to you today. And I’m grateful that I can be part of the transition – and thank you so much for that.”
