Harmony Foundation launches cannabis dispensary

The Harmony Foundation, based in Secaucus, has been granted permission by the state’s Department of Health to open and operate a medical marijuana dispensary in the state, marking the sixth dispensary to open in the state.

The dispensary will operate from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days per week. The five other dispensaries are the Greenleaf Compassion Center of Montclair, Compassionate Care Foundation of Egg Harbor, Garden State Dispensary of Woodbridge, Breakwater Alternative Treatment Center of Cranbury, and Curaleaf NJ in Bellmawr.

New Jersey’s Medicinal Marijuana Program is growing at a rate of 100 new patients per day, according to data from the DOH. More than 23,200 patients are participating in the program, including 6,000 suffering from chronic pain.

Roughly 5,000 patients have joined the program since the DOH implemented program reforms earlier this year, including the addition of five new qualifying medical conditions: anxiety, migraines, Tourette syndrome, chronic pain related to musculoskeletal disorders, and chronic visceral pain.

“The Murphy Administration is committed to making New Jersey’s medicinal marijuana program more consumer-friendly and responsive to all patients,” said Health Commissioner Dr. Shereef Elnahal, in a prepared statement. “The availability of this new ATC will provide residents in the northern part of the state better access to products they need to treat their conditions.”
