Hudson County Community College will not increase the cost of tuition and fees for the second consecutive year.
HCCC‘s board of trustees voted unanimously to keep the current freeze in place, the college announced April 5. The extension includes this year’s Summer II and Fall semester classes, as well as the 2022 Winter, Spring and Summer I sessions.
President Chris Reber, noting the emotional, physical and financial toll of the COVID-19 pandemic, said it was the “right thing to do in spite of the financial constraints of the pandemic on our college and all higher education institutions.”
Tuition for in-county residents remains at $149 per credit, $298 per credit for out-of-county students, and $440 per credit for out-of-state and international students.
The $25 per term registration fee, $6.50 per credit student life fee, $25 per credit general service fee, and $18 per credit technology fee will also remain the same.
“In the post-pandemic world, a college education will be even more vital in securing – or transitioning to – quality, stable, well-paying jobs and careers,” said Reber.
A recent McKinsey Global Institute report said that 1 in 10 U.S. workers will likely be forced to leave their present jobs and take up new occupations because of the pandemic. The most sought-after careers will include health professionals, health aides and technicians, cybersecurity experts, data analysts and managers, and financial advisors.
