Horizon Foundation awards $2M in grants in 2022

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey’s philanthropic arm announced Jan. 9 it awarded more than $1 million in grants to 34 nonprofit organizations in the fourth quarter of 2022. 

The most recent round brings the Horizon Foundation for New Jersey’s 2022 grant total to $2.14 million, benefiting 67 groups. 

“Throughout 2022, The Foundation continued to strive to keep New Jersey healthy by promoting health equity, addressing racial and health disparities and expanding cultural awareness in the diverse communities we serve,” the organization said in a statement. 

The nonprofits that recently received grants, according to the Newark-based organization’s website, are: 

  • Acenda Integrated Health, Glassboro, $20,000 
  • After-School All Stars, Newark, $25,000 
  • The Arc of New Jersey, North Brunswick, $25,000 
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Atlantic City, Atlantic City, $60,000 
  • Bergen Volunteer Medical Initiative, Hackensack, $90,000 
  • Camden Community Partnership, Camden, $100,000 
  • Cherry Hill Free Clinic, Cherry Hill, $25,000 
  • Children’s Aid and Family Services, Paramus, $25,000 
  • Count Basie Theatre, Red Bank, $10,000 
  • First Tee of Essex County, Newark, $20,000 
  • Garden State Equality Education Fund, Asbury Park, $25,000 
  • Greater Newark Conservancy, Newark, $25,000 
  • Greater Newark Health Care Coalition, West Orange, $25,000
