Neutrogena skin care brand is closing its Los Angeles headquarters as parent company Kenvue consolidates operations to New Jersey.

In a filing with California labor officials, Kenvue said it will eliminate 84 positions, effective April 11. According to Bloomberg, 74 of the impacted employees received relocation offers and jobs at other company locations.

In a statement to NJBIZ, a Kenvue spokesperson said, “We are evolving our operations to reach more consumers, optimize collaboration and broaden talent and career opportunities for all Kenvuers, and drive sustainable growth. As part of this, we will be consolidating operations from other sites to one location, our future world headquarters in Summit.”

“Decisions impacting our employees are never easy. We are fully committed to providing those affected by this change with the resources and support they may need,” the spokesperson added.

Kenvue – a spinoff of Johnson & Johnson’s consumer health business – expects to begin moving into its 290,000-square-foot space next year. The 46-acre campus will house corporate personnel as well as laboratory space to support research and development.

With a brand portfolio that includes Aveeno, Band-Aid, Listerine, Tylenol and Benadryl, Kenvue is a major player in consumer health. In 2024, annual revenue totaled $15.44 billion, with net income of $1.64 billion.

However, organic sales in the skin health and beauty segment are struggling, with Kenvue reported an 8% drop in the most recent quarter.

The company is also eliminating 51 positions at its current base in Skillman this spring. It says other parts of the business are also being restructured.
