Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop joined Manhattan Building Company at the official opening at the launch of leasing for the next phase of SoHo West (South of Hoboken, West of New York City) community on the border of Hoboken and Jersey City.

The developer opened leasing for 377 apartment units located at 273 16 St., Jersey City.

“The initial phase of SoHo West, the Cast Iron Lofts Collection, put this neighborhood on the map and is now home to more than 800 residents,” said Louis Mont, chief operating officer of Hoboken-based Manhattan Building Company. “We’re incredibly excited to move forward in further establishing the community with the launch of Soho Lofts, which will introduce an even higher level of urban luxury with condo-style interior finishes, cutting-edge and modern indoor and outdoor amenities combined with a chic, contemporary lifestyle.”

Soho Lofts consists of separate 14-story and 21-story buildings connected by a five-story podium that houses a lobby, an amenity center and an enclosed parking garage.

The loft-style homes range from 622 to 3,397 square feet. Rents for a one-bedroom start at $2,000 with initial occupancy this month.

Manhattan Building Company selected City Homes and Gardens as the leasing agent for the development.

“The luxury and comfort found inside these residences are what separates Soho Lofts from the competition,” Audrey Spina, director of leasing for City Homes and Gardens said.  “These apartments are larger than those found in rental buildings along the Jersey City and Hoboken waterfront, and in areas like Brooklyn, at a price point that offers considerable consumer value.”

The community provides complimentary shuttle service to the nearest PATH Station and the NY Waterway ferry terminals.

“The completed Cast Iron Lofts Collection includes 387 apartments and 20,000 square-feet of retail space occupied by 8 Springs Studio, a Pilates and Yoga studio; Viaquenti Academy, a bilingual pre-school; Brewshot, a coffee shop/bar restaurant that has several other locations in Jersey City and NYC; and The Art House, a non-profit that will include a 99-seat black box theatre,” Manhattan Building Company said in a news release.
