New Jersey American Water will spend $1.8 million to replace about 5,000 feet of aging wastewater main in Ocean City this fall.
The company will replace aging wastewater line on 11th Street from West Avenue to the boardwalk, Ocean Avenue from 13th Street to midway between Eighth and Ninth streets, 10th Street from Ocean Avenue to the boardwalk, and 12th Street from Wesley Avenue to the boardwalk.
This $1.8 million investment will continue to advance wastewater service reliability and support continued growth in Ocean City as part of New Jersey American Water’s multi-million-dollar initiative to accelerate the renewal of water and wastewater infrastructure that has reached the end of its useful life in more than 100 communities in New Jersey.
New Jersey American Water’s local, qualified contractor, Perna Finnigan, began work on Sept. 16 and expects to finish in approximately 12 weeks to 15 weeks. Work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday through Oct. 31. Beginning Nov. 1, work hours will shift to Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.Work outside of these hours is not anticipated unless required to maintain project schedule.
