The Lawrenceville School is the most expensive private education institution in the state of New Jersey with an average tuition of $51,440.

A list of the priciest institutions in the state was compiled by NJ Advance Media by cross-referencing other resources including Business Insider and Niche.com’s estimations of yearly tuition costs.

Purnell School, Peddie School, Dwight-Englewood School and Morristown-beard School made up the rest of the Top 5 most expensive schools in the state.

Even with nationwide concerns of rising costs for higher education, some New Jerseyans are willing to pay even more for traditional K-12 education. Stevens Institute of Technology, New Jersey’s most expensive yearly tuition higher education institution, compared closely to the priciest K-12 schools in the state with an average cost of roughly $35,000 a year.

For the most part, parents are getting what they paid for. Of the Top 20 list, only two schools did not receive an A rating from Niche.com. Purnell School received an A- while Saddle River Day School was rated an A.
