New Jersey American Water said April 29 it will invest $3 million in Mendham Township and Mendham Borough, and $1.1 million in Asbury Park starting next week, as part of its multimillion-dollar initiative to accelerate the renewal of water infrastructure that has reached the end of its useful life in more than 100 communities across the state.
In Mendham Township and Mendham Borough, the Camden-based utility will replace approximately 6,400 feet of aging water main and install 3,800 feet of new water main. The company will upgrade the aging water lines and install the new 12-inch ductile iron main along Route 24 from Cherry Lane in Mendham Township to Hilltop Road in Mendham Borough. The project also includes replacing eight fire hydrants and 97 utility-owned service lines along the pipeline route.
Montana Construction Inc. will begin work on or about May 3 and expects to be completed within approximately three months.
Separately, the water utility said it will invest $1.1 million to replace approximately 2,100 feet of aging water main in Asbury Park. The company will upgrade aging 4- and 10-inch cast iron water lines with new 8- and 12-inch ductile iron main along Prospect Avenue from Asbury Avenue to Bangs Avenue. The project also includes replacing three fire hydrants and 28 utility-owned service lines along the pipeline route.
Montana Construction Inc. will begin work on or about May 3 and expects to be completed by the end of June, weather permitting.
