Mastro Communications Inc. in West Caldwell was selected by the LPGA Tour as the marketing and public relations agency for the Cognizant Founders Cup, which will tee off Oct. 4 through Oct. 10 at Mountain Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell.
The Cognizant Founders Cup pays tribute to the 13 founding members who established the LPGA Tour in 1950, and for the last decade has taken place in Arizona. This year makes the first year for title sponsor Cognizant, a professional services company based in Teaneck.
The title sponsor will offer a $3 million dollar purse, the largest of any LPGA Tour event outside of the majors and the CME Group Tour Championship, according to an announcement.
Mastro Communications will be responsible for managing publicity and related marketing activities, including digital and social executions, during the six-month window leading up to the tournament, and throughout competition week.
“We are excited to work with the team at Mastro Communications, as they have a wealth of tournament experience and a strong track record of success in many sectors of the golf industry,” said Tournament Director Scott Wood in a prepared statement. “As we transition this event to a vibrant sports market, with a short runway to tournament week, Mastro is well positioned to lead the publicity and marketing efforts for the Cognizant Founders Cup.”
Mastro Communications is a longstanding PR agency partner for the PGA of America as well as for RWJBarnabas Health. Other high-profile clients include Ben Hogan Golf Equipment Co., Golf Datatech, the NJPGA and its charitable arm the New Jersey Golf Foundation, Selkirk Sport, and Shot Scope.
