The Ridgewood Country Club‘s David Reasoner was elected Nov. 13 to the PGA of America board of directors as District 2 director.
Reasoner has been a PGA of America golf professional and served as head professional at the Paramus club since 2002, which has played host to a number of prestigious professional and amateur events such as the United States Amateur Championship (2022) and Northern Trust Open (2019), among others.
He was elected to this new role during the 107th PGA Annual Meeting held in Texas at the Omni Frisco PGA Resort and PGA Frisco, home of the PGA of America. He will serve a three-year term representing the Metropolitan, New Jersey and Philadelphia PGA sections.
Reasoner is well-respected by his peers for his commitment to and leadership within the PGA of America – focusing his efforts on mentorship and counseling of fellow professionals to help them grow in their careers. His service in the NJPGA Section has included a stint as president from 2018-2019; he currently serves as the vice president of the New Jersey Golf Foundation, the charitable arm of the NJPGA.
In 2019, Reasoner was the recipient of the Bill Strausbaugh Award, recognizing a PGA of America golf professional who demonstrates exceptional character, integrity and leadership by way of teaching and mentoring other PGA professionals. He has also won multiple awards at the PGA Section Level, including New Jersey PGA Golf Professional of the Year in 2015 and 2018.
As a reflection of Reasoner’s commitment to helping guide and support the next generation of PGA of America members, he has hired 86 PGA Golf Management program students as interns at The Ridgewood Country Club.
“I’ve always been passionate about governance, serving my fellow PGA of America Members and guiding the next generation that will drive the Association forward,” Reasoner said in a press release. “I’m humbled to serve the Metropolitan, New Jersey, and Philadelphia PGA Section in representing District 2 as a board member of the PGA of America and can’t wait to work alongside the incredible individuals of our Association to elevate our profession.”
“It’s an honor to serve alongside such a distinguished group of mentors and leaders on the PGA of America board of directors,” said PGA of America President John Lindert, PGA director of golf at The Country Club of Lansing in Michigan. “These passionate PGA of America Members, who love the game volunteer their time and share a common goal of working tirelessly to elevate our profession, ensuring golf is well-positioned for future growth and success.”
This summer, Trout National – The Reserve — a collaboration between MLB star and New Jersey native Mike Trout, South Jersey businessman John Ruga and golf icon Tiger Woods — released the routing map for the 18-hole, par-72 golf course in Vineland that is slated to complete construction in 2025.
