NJ Transit kicks off regular season rail service to MetLife

As fans rejoice the start of football season, NJ Transit this week announced the kickoff to regular season rail service to MetLife Stadium.

The route begins this Sunday – when the New York Jets host the Baltimore Ravens at the Meadowlands stadium – and continues throughout the season, with NJ Transit offering train service on the BetMGM Meadowlands Rail Line to and from Secaucus Junction for every Jets or New York Giants home game.

A different kind of football

NJ Transit says that fans can take any train that stops in Secaucus Junction and then simply transfer to the direct BetMGM Meadowlands Rail Line to the Meadowlands Rail Station, located just steps from the stadium entrance.

The start time for the rail shuttle between Secaucus Junction and MetLife Stadium will vary based on the start time of each game. Trains typically operate approximately every 10-20 minutes during peak periods prior to an event.

There will also be limited direct train service from Hoboken to MetLife Stadium on select trains prior to regular season and playoff games.

NJ Transit advises customers to purchase roundtrip tickets from their originating station to Meadowlands Station to avoid delays boarding trains. Tickets purchased on the train will include a $5 dollar surcharge.

Ahead of the games, the agency is also advising customers to check departure times of final train connections from Secaucus.

In addition to avoiding a surcharge, purchasing roundtrip tickets in advance can help riders avoid potentially long lines. NJ Transit recommends customers use their mobile app and to plan accordingly.
