Discount retailer Ocean State Job Lot is adding a new store in South Jersey.
A spokesperson confirmed that the Rhode Island-based chain signed a lease for space at Collegetown Shopping Center in Glassboro, but said there is no information available yet on a timeline for opening.
At the Delsea Drive shopping center, OSJL is taking over a 40,000-square-foot store previously occupied by bankrupt Big Lots.
In the wake of the discount home goods chain’s September 2024 Chapter 11 filing, OSJL acquired nearly two dozen former Big Lots stores along the East Coast. Within New Jersey, that included sites in Mays Landing, Barnegat, Somers Point and Cape May. Those locations have since reopened as OSJL stores.
Founded in 1977, the chain sells an ever-changing array of brand-name, first-quality merchandise at closeout prices. Its products include household goods, apparel, seasonal products, specialty foods, kitchen pantry staples and pet supplies.
Considered the Northeast’s largest, privately held discount retailer, OSJL has 175 stores, employs 7,000 associates and generates annual sales exceeding $900 million, the company said.
In Glassboro, OSJL will join a tenant mix that includes Lidl, Ulta Beauty, Ross Dress for Less, Five Below, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Tropical Smoothie Café and Saladworks.
In addition to the sites listed above, OSJL’s local footprint also spans:
