Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming more prevalent in many facets of life, with several major announcements this week further highlighting that reality.
San Francisco-based OpenAI started things off, announcing the launch of ChatGPT Enterprise, a new version of its popular AI chatbot designed for businesses.
Some of ChatGPT Enterprise’s features include: enterprise-grade security and privacy, unlimited higher-speed GPT-4 access, longer context winders for processing longer inputs, advanced data analysis capabilities, customization options, and much more.
“Today marks another step towards an AI assistant for work that helps with any task, is customized for your organization, and protects your company data,” OpenAI said Aug. 28. “We believe AI can assist and elevate every aspect of our working lives, making teams more creative and productive.”
In a reflection of the growing use and influence of the technology, OpenAI noted that since ChatGPT’s launch just nine months ago it has been adopted by more than 80% of Fortune 500 companies. OpenAI added it heard from business leaders that they’d like a simple and safe way of deploying it in their organization — setting the stage for ChatGPT Enterprise.

Several companies participated in the beta development process of ChatGPT Enterprise, including Block, Canva, Carlyle, The Estee Lauder Cos., PwC and others.
“From engineers troubleshooting bugs, to data analysts clustering free-form data, to finance analysts writing tricky spreadsheet formulas – the use cases for ChatGPT Enterprise are plenty,” said Danny Wu, head of AI products at Canva. “It’s become a true enabler of productivity; with the dependable security and data privacy controls we need.”
“We have many more features in the works, including a self-serve business offering and the ability to securely extend ChatGPT’s knowledge with your company data,” OpenAI added. “We’ll launch these as soon as possible and will continue to evolve based on early customer feedback.”
Meanwhile – here in New Jersey – Hackensack Meridian Health announced Aug. 29 it was expanding its strategic partnership with Google Cloud to deploy generative AI solutions to improve patient care and reduce the administrative burden on clinicians, caregivers and hospital operators.
HMH says the expanded partnership will leverage the technology to allow staff to focus more on care, decision-making and personalizing the patient experience.
“Generative AI has the potential to revolutionize how we deliver care, making it more efficient, personalized, and effective,” said Robert Garrett, CEO of Hackensack Meridian Health, in a press release. “Artificial intelligence coupled with experienced clinicians will be a game-changer for our nation’s health care system and potentially revolutionize how we deliver and receive care.”
The two organizations are currently working on a broad digital transformation initiative including programs that leverage analytics, AI and machine learning. They say that their newly announced generative AI work will leverage Ekam, HMH’s Cloud Data Platform built on Google Cloud, and will use Google Cloud’s Vortex AI platform, which supports Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) compliance.
“AI is the most profound technology in the world today. Whether it’s helping doctors detect diseases earlier or enabling people access to information in their own language, AI is improving health care in remarkable ways,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud. “Hackensack Meridian Health is setting an example for the health care industry by using generative AI to help improve both the employee and patient experience.”
The 2023 Propelify Innovation Festival announced Aug. 28 that its theme will be “All About AI.” Click here to read more.
