An indoor pickleball club is coming to Central Jersey.

Scheduled to open Sept. 10 at the Monroe Sports Center, The Pickleball Club at Monroe will feature 10 climate-controlled, regulation-size asphalt courts with dedicated lines and fencing.

Other highlights include:

  • State-of-the-art scheduling and payment system
  • Ball machines to rent for playing solo games
  • A store for pickleball paddles, balls, grips and other supplies
  • Membership programs
  • Juniors programs for ages 8 and older
  • Leagues for all skill levels
  • Events, such as tournaments, ladders and socials, held multiple times per month
  • Private and group lessons with certified instructors as well as more than 25 types of clinics to learn the sport, from beginner to advanced
  • A social area for players to relax and private room available for rental

Michael Rosenberg, one of the new club’s owners, said, “Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the United States, and as pickleball enthusiasts we cannot wait to share this with the local community.”

“Most pickleball players who want to play indoors must share the courts with other sports, often leading to confusion with multiple sets of lines, and fighting over playing time. Our courts will be dedicated just to the sport of pickleball,” he told NJBIZ.

While MSC has a pickleball program created by state-recognized master teaching professional Jeff Onuschak, Rosenberg, along with his wife, Erica, sought to expand the sport’s presence there and create “a top tier facility where players at any level will feel at home.”

Located just off Route 33, the 78,000-square-foot indoor Monroe Sports Center features eight tennis courts and two regulation size basketball courts, along with state-of-the-art technology throughout the complex, including video cameras on every court and advanced lighting systems.

According to MSC, the indoor pickleball club is taking over the tennis court area adjacent to a current pickleball space. Once the new facility opens this fall, the existing pickleball courts will be converted back to full-time tennis courts.

Construction is scheduled to begin in August and expected to take about a month, he said.

According to Rosenberg, The Pickleball Club at Monroe is leasing space from MSC and will be a separate entity.

“We are all very excited about this new era of pickleball at MSC and we look forward to getting to know the Monroe pickleball community and developing new relationships as we grow with this game we all love,” he said.
