Prudential Financial Inc. on Wednesday announced the appointments of Scott Sleyster to executive vice president and chief operating officer, International Businesses of Prudential, and Ken Tanji to executive vice president and chief financial officer.
These appointments follow Newark-based Prudential’s leadership succession plan announced last week in which Charles Lowrey was named to succeed the retiring John Strangfeld as chairman and CEO and Robert Falzon vice chairman.
Sleyster, who has served as senior vice president and chief investment officer since 2012, will report to Lowrey. Sleyster previously served as head of Prudential’s Full-service Retirement business, president of the Guaranteed Products business, chief financial officer of the Employee Benefits division and in other leadership roles during his 31 years with the company.
Tanji, who has served as senior vice president and treasurer since 2013, will report to Vice Chairman Robert Falzon. Before becoming treasurer, Tanji served as chief financial officer of International Businesses. He has held a variety of finance leadership positions in his 30 years at the company.
Sleyster and Tanji will also join the executive leadership team as executive officers.
Said CEO and Chairman-elect Charles Lowrey in a statement: “Scott and Ken bring an important mix of investing, finance and market acumen, as well as global perspective, to the executive leadership team.”
Additionally, Timothy Schmidt, head of Global Portfolio Management, will be elevated to chief investment officer; and Nandini Mongia, currently CFO of Prudential Retirement, will be promoted to treasurer.
All roles are effective Dec. 1.
