Together, New York-based Third Point and Strawbridge could amass an 8.5 percent stake, sources told Reuters. The sources also told Reuters that Third Point could then disclose its position in a regulatory filing as early as this week.

Campbell has been undergoing strategic review since Denise Morrison stepped down as CEO in May.

Third Point had no comment, and Campbell did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
