Now known as Ascendia Bank, the former Glen Rock Savings Bank celebrated its centennial with events held at its four branch locations earlier this month.
Area residents in Glen Rock, Hawthorne and West Orange – where the financial institution has two offices – showed up early at the branches, lining up at 8:30 a.m. for an Instant Cash Giveaway, in addition to take advantage of three special products: a 100-Day Centennial CD with a minimum $1,000 deposit, an 18-month Ascending Rate “Bump Up” CD with a minimum $500 deposit and Tiered Centennial Money Market Accounts with a minimum $1,000 deposit, for deposits not previously held by the bank.
The first 50 adults who visited each Ascendia Bank branch received a tumbler containing cash, ranging from $1 to $100, with one winner per branch taking winning the $100 prize. Branded tote bags, other giveaways and refreshments were doled out as part of the celebrations, which drew local officials and of course, included birthday cake.
“We’re very proud of our century of service to the communities we serve,” said President and CEO Ferdinand (Fred) Viaud in a statement. “Ascendia Bank will continue to be focused on providing our personal and commercial customers with the products and services required to meet their needs.”
