NJ receives $13M to improve ferry operations

The grants will fund two projects: one to increase the sustainability of NY Waterway's vessels and another to support construction of a new passenger facility for South Amboy's recently introduced aquatic service to Manhattan.

Long-awaited South Amboy Ferry Terminal begins service

The route is expected to be a boon to the region, moving more than 1,000 daily riders during the week, and eventually some 500 people over the weekends.

Jersey City is relaunching a city-run ferry operation out of Port Liberte Ferry Terminal, which had been shut down since the early days of the pandemic in 2020.
