Just in time for the summer travel season, the Wildwoods announced the new Wildwoods Island Shuttle Service will launch Memorial Day weekend.
The mayors of Wildwood, Wildwood Crest and North Wildwood, along with officials, will hold a joint press conference May 27 to formally introduce the new shuttle. But service will actually begin the day before for the holiday, followed by weekends-only service from Memorial Day Weekend through June 19.
It will transition to a daily route June 20 through Labor Day on Sept. 5. The shuttles then return to weekend-only service Sept. 9 through Oct. 22.
“The Wildwoods are excited to kick off the 2022 summer season with this new visitor amenity. The Wildwoods Island Shuttle will provide a convenient way for visitors to ride from their hotels, motels and vacation rentals to the Boardwalk and all three amusement piers without having to move their cars and find parking to experience what the Wildwoods have to offer,” said Mayors Don Cabrera, Wildwood Crest; Pete Byron, City of Wildwood; and Patrick Rosenello, North Wildwood, in a joint statement.

The shuttles, which are being provided by the Jitney Association transportation service company, will have the Wildwoods logo featured prominently on the vehicles. Each shuttle will have 13 available seats, making multiple stops while running from 5 p.m. through midnight. All shuttles will be ADA compliant with wheelchair lifts on each.
The shuttles will run the length of the island, starting at Diamond Beach on the southern tip of the island, along Atlantic Avenue, and making its way to Ocean Avenue in Wildwood Crest. An additional late-night route is planned for the North Wildwoods Entertainment District.
“The Wildwoods Island Shuttle offers visitors and residents in the Wildwoods an ideal opportunity to travel between the three municipalities with ease, and to experience travel throughout the resort destination in a new, convenient and affordable way,” said Manny Mathioudakis, president of the Jitney Association. “The Jitney Association has served South Jersey for over a century and is excited to partner with the Wildwoods for the Island Shuttle Service.”
The cost to ride will be $3 one-way, and $4 on the late-night route. Additional information can be found at www.WildwoodsNJ.com.
