Clothing retailer Uniqlo donated 100,000 medical grade masks to doctors, nurses and health care workers on the front lines of the fight against COVID-19 and Goya Foods donated more than 20,000 masks.
“This is the essence of what it means to be a good corporate citizen and we are incredibly appreciative,” Gov. Phil Murphy said of the Uniqlo donation in his April 10 COVID-19 briefing.
He also mentioned the Wyckoff Girl Scout Troop 24, who produced headbands to be worn under the straps of medical masks to make them more comfortable. The headbands were donated to Valley Hospital in Ridgewood.
Earlier this week, Goya Foods in Jersey City donated 200,000 pounds of food, equivalent to 170,000 meals to food banks, food pantries, health care workers, schools, and soup kitchens in New Jersey, New York, Texas, Pennsylvania, Florida and Illinois.
