About: Poyee L. Tai joined Tronex International in 1993 as head of the company’s corporate marketing and business development functions. Over the last 20 years, she has helped cultivate the Tronex brand, an effort that has allowed the company to ride out today’s challenging economy. She also has fostered and mentored a diverse workforce at Tronex, which makes personal protective equipment for the health care, food service, hospitality, manufacturing and retail industries, as well as for governments.

First Job: Management trainee for Buffalo-based Marine Midland Bank, which is now part of HSBC Bank USA .

Biggest Motivator: “The opportunity to care for the larger whole with a higher mission. I am most motivated when I know that my ideas and actions will benefit others … This could be through offering better products and costs to our clients, or mentoring and assisting others to grow while achieving the main objectives of the company.”
