Urban Engineers said Thursday that Gary Etter joined the firm as vice president and New Jersey regional manager.
Etter comes to Urban Engineers‘ Cherry Hill office with more than 30 years of technical, project management and executive leadership experience in consulting engineering.
“Gary is a proven leader in our industry who brings a wealth of knowledge to our firm,” said Urban President and Chief Executive Officer Kenneth Fulmer. “We look forward to him leading our New Jersey operations and applying his valuable experience to our company-wide operations and strategic growth goals.”
Prior to joining Urban, Etter served as the chief operating officer of a 1,500-person engineering firm with 15 offices along the east coast. There, he was responsible for operations, strategic planning, project management and IT. Prior to becoming COO, he was the New Jersey branch manager with bottom-line responsibility for operations, project execution, client satisfaction, staffing, training, and strategic planning while leading the firm to become one of the preferred consultants of New Jersey transportation agencies. Earlier in his career, he served as highway department manager and was responsible for numerous multi-disciplined transportation projects for major state and county clients.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Etter earned his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering. He is a registered Professional Engineer in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and serves on the executive committee of the American Council of Engineering Companies of New Jersey (ACEC-NJ) and on the board of directors of the New Jersey Alliance for Action (NJAFA).
