Altogether, the 121 local ventures included saw 241% median growth, generated $5.7 billion in total revenue and added 7,716 jobs to the state’s economy, according to the ranking published Aug. 14. Of the list makers, 15 are newly founded outfits, while 84 are repeat honorees.
“Running a business has only gotten harder since the end of the pandemic,” stated Inc. Editor-in-Chief Scott Omelianuk. “To make the Inc. 5000—with the fast growth that requires—is truly an accomplishment. Inc. is thrilled to honor the companies that are building our future.”
The Inc. 5000 class of 2023 represents companies that have driven rapid revenue growth while navigating inflationary pressure, the rising costs of capital and hiring challenges, he went on to note.
Among this year’s top 500 companies, the average median three-year revenue growth rate ticked up to an astonishing 2,238%. In all, this year’s Inc. 5000 companies have added approximately 1.19 million jobs to the economy over the past three years.
According to Inc., companies are ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2019 to 2022. To qualify, companies must be U.S. based; founded by March 31, 2019; and a privately held, for-profit, independent entity with a minimum revenue of $100,000 for 2019 and $2 million for 2022.
Vital Contingent Planning, a New Brunswick consulting company that provides crisis staffing solutions to the health care industry, ranked highest among New Jersey companies, placing at No. 28 after a reported 10,718% growth year after year.

Only three other companies cracked the Top 100: Lafayette construction firm Terco Enterprises (No. 32), Hoboken health services company Vytalize Health (No. 71) and Roselle-headquartered food and beverage business Penelope Bourbon (No. 84).
Breaking it down
These 25 New Jersey companies made the 2023 Inc. 5000 Regionals: Northeast list in March.
Bubbakoo’s Burritos, the popular Jersey Shore-born Mexican-fusion chain, is celebrating its debut on Inc.’s ranking. With a recorded 379% growth, the 15-year-old fast casual placed 1,517th on the list, which, co-founder Paul Altero said is an honor.
“This past year has been pivotal to our brand’s growth, and we have made tremendous strides in expanding our footprint in both new and existing markets. We look forward to continuing our growth efforts alongside our dedicated franchise partners,” he said.
Year to date 2023, Bubbakoo’s Burritos has opened more than 15 locations including in new markets such as Connecticut, bringing the brand’s location count to over 100 restaurants nationwide
