Four New Jersey outfits are some of the nation’s fastest growing consumer packaged goods companies, according to a report by IRI and Boston Consulting Group based on sales growth, volume growth and share growth nationally.
Englewood Cliffs-based Unilever and Parsippany-based Reckitt were named Growth Leaders in CPG in the “large companies” category, placing at No. 4 and No. 6, respectively. Hackensack-based Upfield and Somerset-based PIM Brands Inc. made the list in the “small companies” categories at No. 5 and No. 13, respectively.
Large companies were considered those with revenues of more than $6 billion, and small companies were those with revenues of less than $1 billion.

“We are excited to be recognized for the sixth time in only 10 years among the group of CPG industry leaders and growth drivers,” said PIM Brands President and CEO Michael Rosenberg, whose company makes a variety of treats, but is perhaps best known for its popular Welch’s Fruit Snacks.
“Our talented and passionate team of associates and vendor partners stepped up during 2021 despite supply chain challenges, as best as was possible, to optimize deliveries of our loved brands to retailers and consumers,” Rosenberg said. “At PIM we remain laser focused on the future and in bringing bite after mouth-watering bite of joy to consumers across North America and around the world.”
Three of the four New Jersey CPG honorees are veterans to the list. This is the fifth time in 10 years that Unilever has been ranked, and the second time Reckitt’s appeared. It’s a sixth for PIM Brands but a first for Upfield, which makes brands including Country Crock and vegan cheese alternative Violife.
Editor’s note: The quote from PIM Brands President and CEO Michael Rosenberg as well as the award roundup at the end of the story have been updated to note this has been the sixth recognition for the brand.
