Crum & Forster and are teaming up to fight hunger in New Jersey.

The Morristown-based insurance company will help support more than 17,000 home deliveries each month of fresh, nutritious groceries to food insecure residents. The partnership will run through the end of the year, according to a spokesperson. It comes as part of a collaboration with the on-demand delivery platform’s Project Dash.

Since 2018, Project Dash has partnered with hundreds of food banks and food pantries across the country to deliver more than 135 million meals to people in need.

Within New Jersey, the initiative’s other partners include the Food Bank of South Jersey, Community FoodBank of New Jersey, the Coalition for Food Health Equity and of Mercer County.

‘Doing good by doing well’

The new collaboration between DoorDash and C&F extends an existing business relationship.

Founded in 1822, C&F is a leading national property, casualty and accident & health insurer. It holds distinction as one of the oldest insurance companies in the U.S.

C&F conducts business through a nationwide network of independent agents, brokers and wholesalers.

The firm is considered one of the fastest-growing insurers in the gig economy space that DoorDash operates. In particular, through its occupational risk and large fleet transportation business segments.

C&F and DoorDash employees also plan to volunteer with participating organizations in communities across the country supported by Project Dash nonprofit partners, such as Jersey City-headquartered Coalition for Food & Health Equity.

Chief Human Resources Officer Barbara Katz believes the initiative reflects the company’s values of “doing good by doing well.”

“We’re proud to support nonprofit organizations that are addressing and helping deliver critical resources to the people who need them most,” she said.

DoorDash head of Government & Nonprofit Operations Daniel Riff shared, “We’re proud to work with Crum & Forster to help expand access to food for communities facing barriers to receiving it.”

“This effort shows what’s possible when mission-driven organizations can come together and help connect individuals and families with critical food resources in a way that is efficient, scalable and community centered,” he said.
